10th International Conference Issyk-Kul 2009. Libraries and Democratization of Society

The Library and Information Consortium of the Kyrgyz Republic (KLIC) with the support of the Ministry of Culture and International and Civic Organizations will hold the 10th International Conference Issyk-Kul 2009: Libraries and Democratization of Society. During these years the conference has become the unique annual forum of library and information specialists in Central Asia. Conference delegates will have a chance to participate in the open discussion within the framework of workshops and round-tables, to establish professional contacts and to learn the experience of leading professionals from CIS and foreign countries. This year's conference will address issues and initiatives about corporate activity of libraries and social partnership, creation of electronic and information resources of Central Asia, professional development of librarians as part of public policy, information literacy at our time, issues of interaction between libraries and local government, library services for disabled people, libraries' local lore work, ecological information, etc.
