           xml:space="preserve">&lt;p&gt;On March 15-16, the Kyrgyz Libraries Information Consortium (KLIC) launched a project to create an open access repository&amp;nbsp;of abstracts of theses and dissertations locallly produced in 12 leading universities and scientific institutes in the country. Sponsored by the Information Program of the Soros Foundation in Kyrgyzstan and the American University of Central Asia, this initiative aims to be the Kyrgyz contribution to the Open Access movement, by making local research visible worlwide for free.&amp;nbsp;As the&amp;nbsp;project evolves, it will seek to provide open access to full text resources too, thus&amp;nbsp;being one of the first&amp;nbsp;projects to create a national open access repository&amp;nbsp;in the Central Asia region.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</content>
