           xml:space="preserve">&lt;p&gt;Birzeit university library in Palestine, member of national library consortium PALICO,&amp;nbsp; Tromsø university library and Telemark university college library in Norway have decided to work together in order to promote the development and establishment of an Open research archive for scientific publications and master and PhD theses from Birzeit university. An open access research archive will give global access to doctoral and master thesis and scientific publications produced at Birzeit University. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The partners will meet in Tromsø, Norway, on October 28-31 in order to discuss the plans and a major application to the Norwegian Government for funding the common project&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</content>

           xml:space="preserve">&lt;p&gt;PALICO members from the West Bank have participated in a one day workshop organised by one of the PALICO institutions, Bethlehem University on: &amp;quot;Reading and Technology at the Service of Everyone&amp;quot; which was held on April the 10th, 2008.&lt;br /&gt;Mrs. Diana Sayej-Naser/ country coordinator / West Bank -Palestine has presented a paper on: &amp;quot;Promoting- Managing, and Marketing E-resources in Higher Education Institutions&amp;quot;.&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;The event is one of a set of activities that took place at Bethlehem University on 10-12/4/2008.&lt;br /&gt;Activities included a bookfair and an exhibition of library equipments.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In addition, PALICO members from West Bank universities have attended the 1st International Conference on:&amp;nbsp; &amp;quot;Libraries from a Human Rights Perspective&amp;quot; which was held in Ramallah from 31 March till 2 April 2008 and was organised by the Center of Human Rights in cooperation with IFLA and FAIFEE Committee and SIDA. Three papers were presented from PALICO members, two from Birzeit and one from the Arab-American University in Jenin. Six members served on the Organising and Scientific Committees, too.&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</content>
