Greenstone Pilot Project in Southern Africa: 2007-2008

In 2007 eIFL.net was asked to execute the Greenstone Pilot Project in Southern Africa on behalf of the Koha Foundation (U.S.A.). John Rose, formerly of UNESCO, kindly agreed to serve as the international coordinator of the project. The goal of the project was to build the expertise and the network of Greenstone software users in southern Africa.

The project formally started in May 2007 with the appointment of an Advisory Committee of African and international experts, and was able to commence operations in early June 2007 with the transfer of the project funds via the Tides Foundation. It came to a close with a wrap up meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa, on July 11-12, 2008, with the participation of national representatives, eIFL and external resource people involved throughout the project.

You can read the pilot project final report here as well as the report from the pilot project wrap-up meeting from July 2008.
