Nauka Publishers based in Kyiv, Ukraine, specialised in educational and scientific literature, and the Center for American Literary Studies in Ukraine at the Institute of literature after Taras Shevchenko of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine started cooperation with Connexions – an environment for collaboratively developing, freely sharing, and rapidly publishing scholarly content on the Web (http://cnx.org/). They published two modules and courses: Contemporary Media Systems and Political Communications (http://cnx.org/content/col10539/latest/ based on Ukrainian translation of the book by Daniel C. Hallin Comparing media systems: three models of media and politics supported by International Renaissance Foundation and the British Council Ukraine) and Discourse of Romantism in the US Literature (http://cnx.org/content/col10545/latest/).

Andriy Ischenko, director of Nauka Publishers, is devoted to promote and practice open access and open education to improve the access to and distribution of education and scholarly materials. He is also happy that one of the most prominent Ukrainian researchers – Professor Tamara Denysova, head of the Center for American Literary Studies in Ukraine, supports open collaboration and knowledge sharing of educational materials and cooperates with Connexions. Andriy Ischenko learned about Connexions at the seminar about open education for academic publishers organised by International Renaissance Foundation and Open Society Institute and lead by the founder of Connexions Dr.Richard Baraniuk and its Executive Director Dr. Joel Thierstein.
