Sofia is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Bulgaria, with a population of 1,395,568 in the Capital Municipality. It is located in western Bulgaria, at the foot of the mountain Vitosha, and is the administrative, cultural, economic, and educational centre of the country. One of the oldest cities in Europe, the history of Serdica-Sredets-Sofia can be traced back some 7000 years and remnants of the city's millenary history can still be seen today alongside modern landmarks. Travel information for eIFL coordinators and publishersSofia Airport For eIFL staff, coordinators and invited speakers: A bus shuttle will be arranged by the Bulgarian Information Consortium to transfer participants from the Aiport to the Hotel (upon arrival and on departure). For publishers: Those publishers that would like to make use of the bus shuttle should provide their flight details to eIFL well in advance. Taxi service from airport to the hotel Rodina is ~ 20 BG leva, or ~ €10, per person per journey.
