The American Physical Society's (APS) mission is the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of physics. In support of this mission, APS publishes primary research and review journals.
Through a collaborate partnership with the American Institute of Physics, APS cosponsors Virtual Journals in science and technology that appear only in electronic format. Articles are derived from journals published by APS and partner societies in emerging specialized fields such as applications of superconductivity, biological physics research, nanoscale science and technology, and quantum information. In addition, APS publishes Physical Review Focus a free online service that provides brief explanations of selected research papers from Physical Review and Physical Review Letters at a level accessible to students and researchers in all fields of physics. Physical Review Focus provides an excellent introduction to current research topics. The Physical Reviews are the pre-eminent journals in physics research and have been published since 1893.
