National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), will host China Open Access Week on October 22-26, 2012 in Beijing, China.
The open access (OA) movement plays an increasingly important role for widest distribution of knowledge and for ensuring the rights of public for access to knowledge. The dramatic growth of OA journals and OA repositories, backed up by the fast rising support from research communities and more and more research funders, help make OA now an inevitability. China, as one of the largest research consumer countries as well as research producer countries, understand its responsibility and hence has been active in promoting open access to its research output, resulting in fast development of OA research journals and OA repositories. To further facilitate the development of OA policies, resources, and supporting infrastructures, the National Science Library is to organize the China Open Access Week to review the development trends, share experiences and best practices, discuss policies, and develop facilitation and enhancement strategies.
This year's China Open Access Week consists of three events:
EIFL Open Access Programme manager will present on IR Support Policy Analysis during Institutional Repository Day on October 22, 2012, on International OA Publishing Trends during Open Access Publishing Day on October 24, 2012 and will participate in the panel discussion for the Day.
