Kenya National Library Service (KNLS) will present a paper on their EIFL-PLIP supported e-health corners during the XXth Standing Conference of Eastern, Central and Southern Africa Library and Information Associations – SCECSAL 2012 – in Nairobi, Kenya. The paper, titled Training and setting up electronic health information resource sections for health workers in public libraries in Kenya: KNLS experience, will be presented by Mr. Omar Abdi, Resource Mobilization Officer at KNLS. The theme of SCECSAL 2012 is Information for Sustainable Development in a Digital Environment.
The e-health corners are located in two KNLS branch libraries, in Kisumu and Eldoret. The service provides free access to computers and the Internet to health workers and the general public, trains users to conduct online health research, and hosts lectures on vital health issues. A central aspect of the programme is collaboration between librarians and health workers to improve access to health information.
