EIFL Open Access Programme Manager Iryna Kuchma will speak at a workshop that aims to develop skills of post-graduate students and early career researchers to become open access (OA) trainers and (OA) ambassadors.

The ‘Open in Action’ Train the Trainers workshop is hosted by Progressive Volunteers, a community-based development organization, and the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), to celebrate Open Access Week 2016. It will take place  at the Regional Centre for Mapping of Natural Resources for Development in Ruaraka, which is  a peri-urban area of Nairobi.

Kuchma’s presentation is titled ‘Learn to speak Open: What, Why, How in Open Science’. She will also facilitate a session on incorporating open science in research workflows, tools for data sharing and ways of sharing and preserving research data.

The workshop is one of several events organized by EIFL, EIFL's partner library consortia and partners across the globe to celebrate International Open Access Week 2016. Open Access Week is an annual, global event established by SPARC in 2008 to raise awareness about OA and to call for OA to be the new norm in scholarship and research. The OA week theme this year is ‘Open in Action’.
