Strategic Planning: Getting Started - free webinar!

Event date:
24 May 2012

EIFL-Consortium Management Programme is delighted to annouce the launch of a four part series of webinars built around strategic planning and consortium operations management.  Much of the webinars will walk participants through the Library Strategic Planning Toolkit - which was developed by Arnold Hirshon, who kindly consented to have it available to EIFL member countries - but they also cover topics that are not necessarily in the Toolkit itself.  The first in the four-part series will focus on an overview of strategic planning and how to get started.

The four webinars are identified as:

  1. Strategic Planning: Overview and Getting Started.  Identifying stakeholders and participants in the planning team, holding meetings, environmental scanning (trend analysis, SWOT, scenario planning, etc.)
  2. Strategic Planning: Developing Your Plan and Getting It Adopted.  Developing mission, vision, values, goals, objectives, and tasks
  3. Strategic Planning: Implementation.  Business planning, assigning accountability, defining success metrics (qualitative, quantitative, balanced scorecard, etc.), resource development, organization, and assessment, tracking the progress of the plan (dashboards, etc.)
  4. Operations Management.  Assessing the culture, developing budgets, human resource development, governance structures, board oversight of the plan implementation, board and committee development and assessment.

Guest speaker for the sessions will be: Arnold Hirshon, Associate Provost and University Librarian at Case Western Reserve University and author of the Library Strategic Planning Toolkit.
