Technologies of Scientific, Educational and Technical Information Development and Use in Electronic Libraries

Presentations and Seminar purpose: introducing and learning about new technologies related to the creation of databases of scientific, technical and educational information and their use in universities and libraries.

Target group: heads of academic and public libraries; librarians; students and professors of universities and colleges. 

Seminar subjects

• Important databases from leading publishers of electronic scientific and educational information (Emerald, Springer, EBSCO publishing, OCLC and etc..) and their use in universities of Uzbekistan and other Central Asia republics;
• Automated library systems. Electronic library catalog and full text databases creation technologies.
• Technologies related to the creation of electronic libraries, corporative scientific and technical information networks and their use for educational process.

Representatives of Springer, Emerald, KONEK, OCLC, IVIS companies are going to participate in the seminar. Leaders of OCLC (Reinhardt van Charldorp, Vivien Cook) will be in Uzbekistan for the first time. They will make presentations at the National Library of Uzbekistan, Urgench State University, National University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent University of Information Technologies, Republican Information and Library Center, and Westminster University in Tashkent.
