The Mayor of Berd cut the ribbon – and Berd Public Library declared its new state-of-the -art mobile computer lab open.
Now farmers in Armenia’s Tavush region will have free access to the Internet, using laptop computers, as part of the library’s ‘Harnessing ICT for Improved Farming Practices’ service. The service is funded by EIFL’s Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP), and uses information and communication technology (ICT) to improve flows of practical and up-do-date information to farmers so that they can increase their yields and income.
High level city officials and leadership, including the Mayor of Berd, Mr Andranik Sharyan, and the spiritual leader of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the Berd area, Father Aram, attended the opening ceremony on April 6.
