EIFL-PLIP grantee, the Public Library Radislav Nikčević in Jagodina, and the town of Jagodina, have been chosen to host Serbia’s annual Biblionet conference, which takes place from June 22-24 this year.
Hosting the conference is a great honour. Each year, the Parent Library Community of Serbia selects the library that has shown the greatest success in developing library and information services to host the conference. The honour could not come at a better time for Public Library Radislav Nikčević – this year, also marks the library’s 160th birthday.
Biblionet 2011’s theme is Unreachable Users – an ideal topic for EIFL-PLIP grantees. Three of our grantees will present their projects. Public Library Radislav Nikčević’s presentation will focus on the AgroLib-Ja service, which uses digital technology to modernize farming and improve farmers’ livelihood in Serbia. Our Macedonia partner, Public Library Braka Miladinovci Radovis, will present their Creative minds create job opportunities project, which reaches out to unemployed people, and our Bosnia and Herzegovina partner, Zavidovići Public Library will present their Youth Corner project, which reaches out to children and youth at risk.
The aim of the three presentations is to encourage replication of the EIFL-PLIP grantees’ ideas, services and practices by other libraries in Serbia.
The conference will be opened by Predrag Markovic, Serbian Minister of Culture. Guests will be experts in librarianship from Serbia.
