Dear All

The EIFL-FOSS programme is planning a series of Themed Weeks throughout 2011
in the last full week of each month. The schedule for the year is being
finalised and will be circulated shortly.

The first of these Themed Weeks will take place next week, with a theme of
'Disability Tools'. To begin the week we will hold an online workshop on
Monday 24th January to introduce a range of FOSS tools that can be used to
support library users and staff who have disabilities. The workshop is open
to anyone to attend but a special invitation is extended to FOSS
Coordinators. Please do come along if you can, and please pass on the
details to any colleagues or contacts that may be interested. All you will
need to attend the session is an internet-connected computer with sound (and
maybe headphones if you are in a busy room). To check if your computer will
successfully access the session you can go to
www.instantpresenter.com/systemtest

The workshop will run for one hour, beginning at 09.00 GMT (UK time). To log
in simply go to www.instantpresenter.com/eifl3 about 5 minutes before the
start time, and enter your name, institution and email address. The session
should run in Firefox, Internet Explorer and Chrome.

If you have any experience of using disability tools in your library, please
have the details with you when you log in to the session. I will give you
the opportunity to contribute to the session, either by voice (if you have a
microphone) or by using the text chat facility.

PLEASE SUGGEST topics you would be interested in having for future 'Themed
Weeks', and also suggest which themes you may be able to make a short
contribution for. I am looking for guest speakers (from 2 to 10 minutes) for
all of the sessions. These sessions are FOR YOU so please get involved.

I look forward to seeing many of you online in the session on Monday 24th
January. If you have any questions in advance please of course email me.
Best wishes
Simon
