We would like to follow the example of EIFL-FOSS programme (Simon Ball) and
try to organise 'themed weeks' to get more community and sharing activities
happening across the EIFL OA network. During these "themed weeks" we plan to
share information and provide upskilling via online workshops and
All you will need to attend the online workshops is an internet-connected
computer with sound (and maybe headphones if you are in a busy room). To
check if your computer will successfully access the session you can go to
www.instantpresenter.com/systemtest. The session should run in Firefox,
Internet Explorer and Chrome.
We can also use eifloa mailing list for discussions.
We can cover the following topics according to this tentative schedule:
March 18: Open access advocacy campaigns (national and institutional);
April (the week of April 18-22): capacity building for repository managers;
May (the week of May 23-27): EPrints themed week (joint event with
June (the week of June 13-17): case studies of successful repositories;
July (the week of 25-29): DSpace and Fedora themed week (joint event with
September (the week of 19-23): planning for International Open Access Week;
October (the week of 24-28): Open Journal System/PKP themed week (joint
event with EIFL-FOSS);
November (the week of 14-18): case studies of successful open access
December (the week of 5-9): case studies: open access book publishing.
What do you think about these topics and schedule? Of course we would like
to adjust them to your needs.
PLEASE SUGGEST topics you would be interested in having for online
workshops/discussions and also suggest which themes you may be able to make
a short contribution for.
With best wishes,
EIFL Open Access programme manager
