Hi All,
Thanks for the update, Bess. Here's hoping I find everyone well.
As for me, I was at the University of Zimbabwe in Harare (our capital) in
the first week of December to talk about FOSS and also report on the
Cupramontana meeting. My audience were mainly university librarians from
state institutions all over the country. The presentation was part of a
meeting/workshop for ZULC (Zimbabwe University Libraries Consortium). Before
going to Harare, I made the same presentation at my own place of employment.
I also made the effort of compiling a CD for distribution to ZULC
institutions. The CD contained publications, videos, etc, about FOSS. When I
delayed to send the CD as I had promised some serious follow-ups were made,
indicating that the matter was not being taken lightly.
I have also managed to rope in ZOSS (as I suggested at the meeting in Italy)
and for now, thought it best to just link them with Art. I must say they
also sounded very excited about the initiative and I'm sure they'd be
willing to assist in a great way.
To Tigran and Bess, all the best at the code4lib conference!
Regards
Amos

forthcoming
Dear eIFL-FOSS members,
I'm very sorry for the long delay in communication. Tigran, Rima,
Monika and I have been busy behind the scenes setting up
infrastructure to support the project, and I have a lot to report to
you.
I will be sending out some updates in the next couple of days. For
the moment I just wanted to say welcome to all of you, thank you for
participating in eIFL-FOSS, and I hope we can start using this
mailing list as more of a forum for decision making and communication
than it has been so far. That is largely my fault that there hasn't
been enough in-group communication, and I am going to do my best to
change that.
How did everyone fare reporting back on our eIFL meeting with your in-
country partners (whether that means your university, your NGO, your
library association)?
Bess
