Editors and publishers, researchers, librarians and tool builders are invited to join the third in a series of four LIBSENSE online meeting on ‘Co-designing collaborative free and open source open access publishing infrastructures’.

The meetings are organized by the West and Central African Research and Education Network (WACREN), EIFL and the Coko Foundation. 

The third meeting will focus on requirements and areas for collaboration on shared free and open source open access publishing infrastructure in Africa.

The first online meeting took place on 24 June, and focused on needs assessment for open access scholarly publishing in Africa; open source tools and services for publishing books, journals and textbooks, and training and support needs. The second online meeting took place on 29 July. Participants discussed functionalities and features of open access publishing infrastructure in Africa.  You can see a recording of the first meeting here and notes for the first and second meetings here

The fourth meeting follows in September (date to be concerned) and will focus on - 

  • Designing training and support programmes and
  • Framing the Coalition for Open Access Publishing Infrastructures in Africa: tools, training, hosting, and advice.
