General Assembly 2026

The 2026 EIFL General Assembly (GA) took place online, over two mornings, from 29 - 30 September.

Hosting the GA online made it possible for more people to participate than an in-person meeting (the usual format of the EIFL GA), and over 260 representatives of EIFL partner library consortia attended open sessions on both mornings.

On the first morning, with the GA taking place toward the end of EIFL’s 2024–2026 strategic cycle, EIFL Director Rima Kupryte shared the key achievements and impacts from the organization’s work over the last three years. This was followed by a keynote address by Aaron Tay, Head of Data Services at Singapore Management University, on the topic, ‘AI in scholarly publishing and access to knowledge’.

On the second morning, participants heard managers of the EIFL Licensing, Copyright and Libraries, Open Access and Public Library Innovation programmes share highlights from their work in 2026. A second session was reserved for EIFL Licensing and Country Coordinators to discuss licensing of e-resources and negotiations with publishers.
