EIFL participated in a National Workshop on Public Lending Right (PLR), organized by the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) and the Library Association of the Republic of Moldova, with the support of the EU4IP project and the Swiss PartnershIP Moldova.

The objective of the workshop was to enhance institutional understanding of the EU acquis on Public Lending Right (PLR), examine European implementation models, and initiate a structured dialogue on solutions for implementing PLR in the Republic of Moldova, that is aligning its copyright legislation with the EU acquis.

The presentation by EIFL Copyright and Libraries Programme Manager, Teresa Hackett, ‘Global Library Perspective - Establishing a PLR System’ described best practices for establishing a PLR system that supports authors and libraries, including scope and governance, funding, eligibility, payment calculations and reporting, and the importance of consulting with the local library community when a PLR system is being established.
