The presentation was given at a panel discussion on Open Access (OA) during the Research Week, hosted by the University of Cape Town (UCT) Libraries, in collaboration with the Research Office from Monday, 12 May until Friday, 16 May 2014.

Other speakers included A/Prof Laura Czerniewicz (OpenUCT) who spoke about UCT’s OA policy and about OA from a national perspective highlighting the growth of OA and its contribution to knowledge production is Africa. Ina Smith (Stellenbosch University, SU) addressed OA from an institutional perspective and will talk about the research content in SUNScholar - OA institutional repository and the visibility and impact of that as well as about SU OA publishing platform and its impact.
