In this webinar (59 minutes), panellists Chris Armstrong and Lucienne Abrahams from the African Journal of Information and Communication (AJIC) talk about how the journal audited expertise on the AJIC Editorial Advisory Board in relation to the subject-matter areas most frequently covered by the journal over a two-year period. The aim of the audit was to identify subject-matter areas where additional expertise was needed on the Editorial Advisory Board.

Milica Ševkušić of the EIFL Open Access Programme demonstrated an auditing framework designed to support a systematic assessment of scholarly journals against key requirements for transparency, editorial and technical quality, accessibility and interoperability. The framework, which was developed as part of the Collaboration for Sustainable Open Access Publishing in Africa project, can be used by journals as a self-assessment tool to identify strengths, gaps and areas for improvement, or by institutions to assess journals that they publish or support.
