Through EIFL’s advocacy, institutions in many countries introduced their first-ever open access mandates.
Open access policies and theses mandates implemented in EIFL partner countries
EIFL has been a leader in advocating for changes in systems of scholarly communication. Our work has resulted in implementation of many new open access policies in higher education institutions and research funding agencies in developing and transition countries. The new policies both increase access to knowledge and make it possible for institutions and scholars in these countries to open their research to the world.
Below is the full list of open access policies and theses mandates that have been implemented in EIFL partner countries (by region).

FACTS
An institutional OA policy may be voluntary (e.g. requesting that researchers make their work OA in the institutional repository) or mandatory (e.g. requiring that researchers make their work OA in the institutional repository).
