Are you publishing an APC-free (Article Processing Charges-free) open access (OA) journal? Join this OpenAIRE webinar, hosted by EIFL, and learn more about the new openaire.eu/are-you-publishing-your-apc-free-open-access-journal-on-a-shoestring OpenAIRE call for proposals to fund APC-free OA journals and platforms.

OpenAIRE already offers a funding programme for APCs. This new call for proposals offers a funding opportunity for APC-free OA journals under the openaire.eu/postgrantoapilot FP7 post-grant OA publishing funds pilot. The call will allow APC-free OA journals and/or platforms and publishers to apply for funding to improve their publishing workflows.

In order to be eligible for funding, such journals must have published (or accepted for publication) eligible articles arising from finished FP7 projects during last year.

A maximum of €200,000 will be awarded to up to 12 proposals to perform technical improvements on APC-free OA journals, such as becoming OpenAIRE compatible, systematically collecting funding information in the article metadata, or implementing ORCID.

The call for proposals will remain open until the 30 June 2016. Successful applicants will be announced in early August, and will have until 30 April 2017 to carry out the proposed improvements.

The webinar will be led by Pablo de Castro, from LIBER, the coordinating institution for the FP7 post-grant OA publishing funds pilot. De Castro will address the following topics:

  • Time schedule for this initiative
  • Eligibility requirements
  • How to submit a funding application

The second part of the webinar will be a question and answer session.
